Opens at everydayapps.se/app/verktygsladan/

About the project

Verktygslådan (Swedish for “the toolbox”) is built on a simple idea: see which tools your friends already own before you buy yet another one. It isn’t a rental marketplace or an inventory system, but private networks between people who trust each other – neighbours, family, the workshop crew.

A new tool is private until you share it yourself. No public map, no addresses and no email addresses are visible between users.

Technically, the app is further along than it looks from the outside. What’s missing is the way in: open sign-up or a demo toolbox, so that anyone who finds it can see how it works.

Current state

What works

  • A tool register with photo, brand, model, service history and documents such as receipts and manuals
  • Three visibility levels per tool – private, the whole network or selected groups
  • Friends and groups such as Family, Neighbours and the Workshop Crew
  • Loan requests with dates and conflict checks, reminders and returns
  • Manual loans to people without an account
  • All permissions go through a single module, and the build stops any page that touches tools without asking it
  • The whole lending chain is tested end to end against its own database

What isn’t finished

  • Signing up requires an invitation code, so a visitor can't try the app
  • No demo toolbox to look around without an account
  • The name is too close to Snickarlådan on EverydayApps and needs to change

Why is this project on BSite?

  • Features are not complete yet
  • The experience needs polish

The app is built for real and tested across the whole lending chain, but the door is closed – without an invitation code, a visitor sees only the home page. A catalogue page promising something you can't try doesn't belong on EverydayApps. With open sign-up or a demo toolbox, and a name of its own, it is a candidate to move back.

Development log

  1. Moved to BSite. The app itself stays at the same address, everydayapps.se/app/verktygsladan/.

  2. Built and deployed in a day, with sign-up behind an invitation code during early operation.
