About the project

Vattenskoteräventyret (Swedish for “the jet ski adventure”) is built not to be mean. There is always a way through the row of obstacles, the sun is shining and the sea is borrowed from the coast around Hudiksvall. It is made for kids who want to go fast without being punished for every miss.

The game showed that the idea worked, but the format was too small to grow in. The follow-up, Jetski Adventure, was built from scratch with a real course, two modes and more to discover.

Current state

What the project got to be

  • Three lanes, where every row of obstacles is guaranteed to leave one open
  • Three hearts instead of losing on the first mistake
  • Jumps over low obstacles, and stars to collect for those who switch lanes
  • Best score saved in the browser
  • Keyboard and swipe on touch screens, Swedish interface

What never got finished

  • A single mode – the ride goes on until the hearts run out, with no goals or levels
  • No progression or anything new to unlock
  • Built as a small codebase without tests, hard to build on

Why is this project on BSite?

  • Replaced by a newer project

Vattenskoteräventyret was the first attempt at a friendly jet ski game for kids. The same idea now exists in a bigger form in Jetski Adventure on EverydayGames – with pseudo-3D, a course towards the beach, an unlockable flying mode and original sound. The original stays here and can still be played.
