About the project
Min Bilderbok (Swedish for “my picture book”) turns a family’s own memories – the summer cottage, the caravan, the cat – into a children’s book of five to ten pages, illustrated and read aloud.
Two gates carry the whole product. No page is drawn until every person in the book has a reference image the parent has approved, which is why Anton looks like Anton on every spread. And the text is reviewed before the images are created, because text is cheap to redo and images are not.
What’s missing isn’t the idea but the operations: a cap on what a single user can cost, and a sample book that shows the result without an account.
Current state
What works
- My World – people, pets, things and places, with your own photos
- An illustrated character reference that has to be approved before any book is drawn
- The story is reviewed and edited before a single image is created
- Books of 5–10 pages in a consistent style, read aloud in two voices with page turns
- Cost is measured per book – a five-page test book cost SEK 4.93 in AI calls
What isn’t finished
- Signing up requires a code, so a visitor can't try the app
- Image and text generation isn't responding – the AI account has hit its limit
- No per-user cost cap that would make an open beta safe
- No open sample book to leaf through without an account
Why is this project on BSite?
- Depends on a service that is not responding
- Features are not complete yet
Both quality gates work and the book holds together, but the core relies on AI services that aren't responding right now, and the door is locked behind a code. Without generation, there is nothing to show a new visitor. The app rests here until it has a cost cap and an open sample book.

Development log
Paused and moved to BSite. The app itself stays at the same address, everydayapps.se/app/bilderbok/.
Closed beta. Verified with a five-page book, six images and eighteen audio files without a single failed job.
