About the project
GrillMästaren (Swedish for “the grill master”) is built around a detail many grilling charts miss: the meat keeps getting hotter while it rests. So the app shows the temperature to take it off the heat at, not the one you want to end up with, and then starts a resting timer.
Everything lives in one file with the icons baked in, so the page works even with poor reception out by the grill. For temperatures across more cooking methods, there is KöttTemp.
Current state
What the project got to be
- Seven kinds of meat and fish, from beef to sausages, with doneness where it applies
- Shows the temperature to pull the meat at, with carry-over heat during resting included
- Grilling time per side for thin, medium and thick cuts
- A resting timer with pause, reset and a done signal
- A dark, high-contrast interface for bright sunlight at the grill
- A single file with no external dependencies, installable
What never got finished
- Grilling only – no oven, frying pan or slow cooking
- No sources for the temperatures in the app
- Built as a single file without tests
Why is this project on BSite?
- Replaced by a newer project
GrillMästaren does one thing well at the grill. But the question it answers – how hot should the meat be – now has a bigger home of its own in KöttTemp at kötttemp.se. Two apps about the same thing in different places make it harder to find the right one, so GrillMästaren stays here as the first version.

The start view, where you pick what you're grilling – beef, lamb, pork, chicken, fish, burgers or sausages.
The resting timer with 07:57 left in an orange ring, Pause and Reset buttons, and a tip to let the meat rest under foil.
Development log
Archived and moved to BSite. The app stays at the same address, everydayapps.se/app/grillmastaren/.
Got an install button in the app's own interface.
Built in a day as a single HTML file from my own mockup.
