Champagnekartan

An interactive guide to Champagne – a map of five areas, 23 wine villages, 27 producers and a champagne finder. The prices are still demo data.

Opens at everydayapps.se/app/champagnekartan/

The home page, with a heading inviting you to explore Champagne right down to the village, next to a map with five coloured areas between Reims and Troyes.

About the project

Champagnekartan (Swedish for “the Champagne map”) goes from area to village to bottle. Click Côte des Blancs, open Aÿ or let the champagne finder suggest something for your budget and occasion – and see the reasons behind every suggestion.

The map draws only its own geodata, so it looks like the rest of the site rather than an embedded map service. The village coordinates are real locations, while the area shapes are simplified – and the app says so openly.

Next up: all 319 villages, official geography and real prices. For wine from the rest of the world, there is Vinregioner on EverydayApps.

Current state

What works

  • A custom map of Champagne's five areas, with no tile server or commercial map service
  • 23 wine villages with cru status, soil, altitude and grape mix, all filterable
  • 27 producers split into houses, growers and cooperatives
  • The champagne finder suggests bottles by budget, style and occasion – and shows why
  • 18 guides in Swedish, search that copes with French names typed without accents, and favourites without an account
  • Everything on the map can also be reached as text

What isn’t finished

  • The prices are demo data – real, dated price data is missing
  • 23 of Champagne's 319 wine villages, and the area shapes are stylised rather than the official boundaries
  • A trip planner and producer visits exist only on the roadmap

Why is this project on BSite?

  • Features are not complete yet

Champagnekartan is carefully made but narrow – one region, a selection of villages and made-up prices. On EverydayApps, Vinregioner covers 47 wine districts in ten countries with sources, and it is the stronger choice for anyone who wants to learn about wine. Champagnekartan continues here as a deep dive until every village and real price data are in place.

Screenshots

  • The map page with a legend for the five areas and symbols for Grand Cru, Premier Cru and other villages, next to the map from Montagne de Reims to Côte des Bar.
  • The champagne finder with three of four questions answered and eight suggestions, each card showing the reasons, the price and the demo data label.
  • The village page for Aÿ with its Grand Cru label, the map zoomed in on the village and facts about grape, area, altitude, aspect and soil.

Development log

  1. Moved to BSite. The app stays at the same address, everydayapps.se/app/champagnekartan/.

  2. Got an install button in the app's own interface.

  3. Built in Astro as an interactive Swedish-language guide to Champagne.
