About the project
Bridge Assault: Outbreak takes the squad from Bridge Assault and puts it on a ruined bridge facing a zombie horde. You still don’t aim – the squad fires on its own. What you control is where it runs, and so which upgrade it takes: more survivors, a heavier weapon, a barricade or the Armored Pickup.
The fun is in the chain reactions. Explosive barrels, cars and bloaters take the horde with them, and five or more kills in one chain give a bonus. The run ends with THE BRUTE, an armoured boss whose head only becomes a weak point once the chest plate is gone.
The game is built in Three.js with instanced rendering so that over a hundred zombies can be alive at once. The next steps are a measurement on a real phone and a second bridge.
Current state
What works
- A complete three-to-four-minute run – eight waves and a boss fight against THE BRUTE, in four phases
- The squad grows from two to seven survivors, with a primary weapon ladder from pistol to minigun plus shotgun, flamethrower and grenade launcher
- Upgrades as physical gates in three lanes – you pick with the squad's position, in a few seconds
- Explosive barrels, cars and bloaters chain into reactions, and the Armored Pickup gives about eleven seconds of invulnerability
- Five zombie types and over a hundred alive at once; New Game+ rebuilds the horde instead of only raising numbers
- Keyboard, mouse and touch; reduced-shake and high-contrast options; generated original art, sound effects and three music tracks
- An English landing page with SEO metadata and an install button; no gore, only dark dust and knockback
What isn’t finished
- One bridge and one boss – variety comes from New Game+ rather than from new levels
- Frame rate on a real phone is not measured yet – the numbers so far come from a desktop browser with a hidden panel, not a live frame counter
- Balance has not been tried by anyone but a test bot and the developer
- English only, no Swedish translation
- No service worker, so no offline play (the game can be installed but needs a connection)
Why is this project on BSite?
- Early prototype
- Features are not complete yet
Bridge Assault – Outbreak is the zombie sibling of Bridge Assault, which is also in the lab. It was built in a day, has one bridge and one boss, and has not been played on a real phone. It lives here until it has been tested on real devices and has more than one level. The two Bridge Assault games are meant to graduate to EverydayGames together as a family.

Development log
Built and published on the same day. The game runs on EverydayGames at everydaygames.se/bridge-assault-outbreak/ and is listed here until it has been tested on real devices.
